WVDHHR awards grants for child care center safety buses
An event is planned at the state capitol on Thursday, October 14 at 10 am on the North steps in the circle to present multi-function school activity buses to qualifying child care centers. The new buses will replace the centers’ out-dated and often unsafe 15-passenger vans.
With federal stimulus funding, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources awarded 39 child care centers or out-of-school time programs a grant to purchase the much needed multi-function school activity buses. Seventy-four safety buses were purchased for qualifying centers. Each qualifying center received a grant award in the amount of $36,000. The base cost of the bus was about 39,000.
