BECKLEY, W.Va. – U.S. Representative Nick J. Rahall, II (D-W.Va.) will be hosting an informational workshop on the “Stimulus” bill on Monday, April 20th, 2009 at Concord University. It will help target stimulus funds to assist local development officials identify funding for their initiatives. The workshop will be centered at Concord University in Athens, W.Va., and broadcast live to attendees at eight locations in southern West Virginia.
“Understanding how to access monies provided by the federal government to jump start our economy and reinvest in our communities is a top priority for me,” said Rahall. “That’s why I decided to host this workshop and why I am working to make this information available to as many folks as possible.”
This workshop is being held in partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission, and is an opportunity for southern West Virginia local and regional elected officials and those involved in economic development to access information from federal and state agencies which have responsibility for disbursing funds available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
“If any of our folks are not able to get to one of our workshop locations, they can go right to my website, www.rahall.house.gov, and click on the link that says ‘Congressman Rahall’s Stimulus Bill Workshop.' This will show a description of our program and a link that streams the workshop broadcast live, thanks to West Virginia Public Broadcasting and Concord University through Windows Media Player,” said Rahall.
Rahall’s Stimulus Bill Workshop will air live on-line from 9:00 AM EST until 11:30 AM EST on Monday, April 20th, 2009. To access the online viewing, your computer must be connected to the internet and have Windows Media Player capabilities.
“In the weeks following this workshop, a video of all proceedings will be posted on my website so that officials interested in job creation and economic stimulus have easy and constant access to frequently asked questions about accessing this federal funding. I look forward to working with State and Local officials and economic development authorities to bring the most up-to-date information to our communities,” said Rahall.
