DOH Awards $5.5 Million in Round Four of Recovery and Reinvestment Contracts
CHARLESTON—Various types of bridge work (cleaning and painting, bridge replacement and bridge overlays) leads the $5,533,523.91 in contracts awarded during the fourth round of the Recovery and Reinvestment Act award meeting held recently by the West Virginia Division of Highways according to Secretary of Transportation Paul Mattox.
“Transportation infrastructure is vital to our state and its residents,” Gov. Joe Manchin said. “With these bridge cleaning and painting contracts, West Virginia should start seeing our state’s stimulus dollars at work more and more in the coming days. I have been and will remain committed to using our stimulus funds in a responsible, transparent manner.”
“The West Virginia Division of Highways continues to demonstrate our commitment to spend the ARRA funds responsibly,” Mattox said. “This latest round of projects is no different as we begin a focus on bridge work.”
The bridge cleaning and painting contracts awarded were:
BRAXTON—$1,019,910.00 to Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. of Prior Lake, Minnesota for the northbound and southbound lanes of the Kenton Meadows Sr. Bridge 6.04 miles south of US 19 along I-79
CABELL—$149,285.00 to Seminole Equipment, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida for the Madison Avenue Overpass Bridge .2 miles north of I-64 along US 52
GREENBRIER—$579,385.00 to Seminole Equipment, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida for the Mountain Avenue Bridges both east and west 4.05 miles east of County Route 60/14 along I-64
LINCOLN—$695,285.00 to Seminole Equipment, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida for the Little Coal River Bridges both north and south just north of County Route 8 along US 119
MERCER—$271,220.00 to Seminole Equipment, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida for the East River Mountain Tunnel Overpass Bridge 0.15 mile west of County Route 290/1 along US 52
PENDLETON—$149,285 to Seminole Equipment, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida for the 4-U Bridge .05 miles south of US 33 along County Route 9
A $1,338,087.80 contract was awarded to Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Co. of Powhatan Pt., Ohio for the replacement of the Shepherd Bridge spanning Fish Creek 1.0 mile west of County 86/1 along County 74 in Marshall County.
The sole resurfacing contract in the amount of $1,332,541.11 was awarded to West Virginia Paving, Inc. of Dunbar for 1.94 miles Muddlety Road in Fockler Branch, .03 miles south of 43/1 to .20 miles north of County 43/1, along US 19 in Nicholas County.
