Hello! I am Governor Joe Manchin.

Welcome to recovery.wv.gov, a Web site that enables West Virginians to follow the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s direct impact on our state, while also tracking the overall spending process of our stimulus, "also referred to as ARRA," funds.

As Governor of West Virginia, I am very concerned about this global economic downturn… but I am not scared. The truth is that if this national recession would have hit three or four years ago, we would be facing major challenges in West Virginia.

However, by working together, we have made responsible decisions – like paying down massive debt and cutting taxes for both businesses and residents. Certainly our state is experiencing some of the same obstacles as our fellow states, but our responsible decisions have placed us on more solid financial footing, enabling us to be in a better position to handle today’s economic challenges.

In the coming days and weeks, you will actually see our state’s stimulus dollars at work, and I encourage you to visit this Web site often, because it is updated frequently.

As I have said all along, we have three main priorities when it comes to the Recovery Act funds.

First – We want to do everything possible to create and save jobs.

Secondly – We want to meet the requirements of the legislation that have been set forth by the federal government.

Thirdly - We want to be transparent and responsible with the funds we receive.

The funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will assist our state, and we will see results. My staff will work extremely hard to keep you updated and informed about the various stimulus projects that are happening in the Mountain State.

Working together, we will get through this challenging economic time and West Virginia will be well positioned to truly benefit from the robust economy that our nation will again experience in the future.
